Arizona small-business checklist
Seven questions to answer before you shop business insurance.
A stronger submission starts with a clear picture of what the business does, owns, signs, transports, stores and could lose.
1. What exactly does the business do?
Describe operations in plain language, including the riskiest service—not only the broad industry label.
2. What could be damaged or stolen?
Buildings, tenant improvements, inventory, computers, tools, mobile equipment and property in transit may require different forms of coverage.
3. Who could allege harm?
Customers, clients, landlords, project owners and the public create different general and professional liability exposures.
4. Who works for the business?
Employee duties, payroll and classification affect workers’ compensation and other underwriting.
5. Who drives for work?
Owned autos, hired/rented vehicles and employee-owned vehicles used for business should be identified.
6. What data or systems keep revenue moving?
Email compromise, ransomware, cloud outages and privacy obligations are now operational risks for businesses of many sizes.
7. What do contracts require?
Insurance clauses can drive limits and endorsements. Review them before the bid, lease or project deadline when possible.
